New books from the Jiangsu Literature and Scholars Translated series are launched at the 77th Frankfurt Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, on Oct 17.

A delegation from Phoenix Publishing & Media Group and the Jiangsu Writers Association presented new books from the Jiangsu Literature and Scholars Translated series at the 77th Frankfurt Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, on Oct 17, local time.

The Jiangsu Literature and Scholars Translated series is split into two sections: Literature and Scholars. Since it began in 2021, the Jiangsu Literature Translated series has gone through four phases, translating works into various languages such as English, French, Spanish, Thai, Vietnamese, Kyrgyz, and Indonesian.

Featured at the book fair were the results of the fourth phase, including four books: Bi Feiyu's Massage, Huang Beijia's Pacific, Atlantic, Ye Mi's Never Get Old, and Hu Xian's A Garden Lost and Found. These titles have been translated into English, Thai, Indonesian, and Spanish, leading to a total of six foreign editions.

The Jiangsu Scholars Translated series was officially launched in 2022 to translate and publish academic works featuring Jiangsu regional characteristics, foster academic exchange, and establish an international communication brand for Jiangsu academia, emphasizing the "Jiangsu voice" in global scholarly discussions.

The Jiangsu Scholars Translated series has published six academic works by Jiangsu scholars in languages such as English, French, and Russian. Featured at the book fair were the third-phase results, which included two books: Hong Yinxing's Outline of Chinese-Style Modernization and Hu Axiang's My Country and Its Names.

The former is the first monograph on Chinese-style modernization theory published after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The book systematically details the unique features of socialist modernization led by the CPC, tailored to China's specific conditions, while also outlining the general traits of global modernization. The second work investigates the origins and development of Chinese dynastic titles through diverse disciplines such as history, geography, and linguistics, and examines the cultural connotations of historical and dynastic titles like China, Huaxia, Zhonghua, and the dynasties of Xia (c.21st century-16th century BC), Shang (c.16th century-11th century BC), and Zhou (c.11th century-756 BC).

After the book unveiling, a reading session featuring selected works from Jiangsu Literature Translated series was held. Seven poets from China, France, and Spain read poems by Jiangsu poet Hu Xian from his collection A Garden Lost and Found in Chinese, English, and Spanish.
