Chinese version of Lula Biography makes its debut in Beijing on June 20.
The Chinese version of Lula Biography was launched on June 20 during the Beijing International Book Fair, a prelude to next year's China-Brazil Year of Culture.
As the first authorized biography of the current Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the publication of this book is not only an important achievement in Sino-Brazilian cultural exchange but also provides Chinese readers with a valuable window to deepen their understanding of Brazilian politics, society, and the legendary life of President Lula.
Lula Biography, created by Brazilian veteran journalist Fernando Morais over the course of a decade, chronicles President Lula's journey from childhood poverty to metalworker to union leader, ultimately becoming a national leader. Through numerous firsthand interviews and valuable historical materials, the book illustrates how Lula led Brazil towards modernization and social equity.

In his address, Xu Hai, editor-in-chief of Phoenix Publishing and Media Inc, emphasized the alignment of President Lula's ideal of "ensuring every child has enough to eat" with the ancient Chinese wisdom of "people being the foundation of the country". He stressed that the publication of this book will further enhance mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries and inject new spiritual energy into the construction of a China-Brazil community with a shared future.
Joao Batista Magalhaes, minister-counsellor of the Brazilian embassy in China, said in his speech that President Lula has always been committed to promoting the democratization of international relations and solidarity among nations of the Global South. His story is not only one of Brazilian pride but also a source of spiritual inspiration for developing countries.
During the event, the Chinese version of Lula Biography was presented to the Brazilian Embassy in China, Peking University, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Confucius Institute at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, symbolizing the deepening cooperation between China and Brazil in the fields of knowledge sharing and cultural exchange.
