Signing ceremony about The Pomegranate Boat, and National Beauty and Heavenly Fragrance.

Phoenix Juvenile and Children's Publishing inked publication contracts of the Arabic versions of its three books with Tunisia's Oriental Knowledge Publishing Co, China National Publications Import & Export Corp, and Digital Future Publishing Group in Tunis, capital city of Tunisia, on April 26 local time during the 39th Tunis International Book Fair.

The books are The Pomegranate Boat, Polar Shuttle, and National Beauty and Heavenly Fragrance.

Renowned Chinese writer and China's first Hans Christian Andersen Award winner, Cao Wenxuan, said in his speech that true growth is never as light as a fairy tale, and excellent children's literature holds the power of growth. Young Arabic readers who engage with the themes of laughter and sorrow in The Pomegranate Boat may recognize that, despite linguistic differences, the fundamental human quest for courage, love, and dignity transcends cultural boundaries.

Samah Mohamed Abdelkader, director of the International Cooperation Department at Tunisia's Oriental Knowledge Publishing Co and a sinologist, believes that The Pomegranate Boat and National Beauty and Heavenly Fragrance carry rich cultural connotations and profound insights into life and humanity. She said the company will ensure the quality of translation and publication of these two works. Simultaneously, she looks forward to further cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and Arab countries through this cooperation, allowing more Arabic readers to understand and appreciate Chinese culture.

Mohamed EI-Khatib, president of Digital Future Publishing Group, praised Polar Shuttle, published by Phoenix Juvenile and Children's Publishing, acknowledging that the book boldly integrates artificial intelligence technology into the daily lives of ordinary children, allowing technological innovation to engage in children's emotional and spiritual growth. The book answers how AI can coexist and integrate with the new generation.

The Pomegranate Boat is a realistic children's novel depicting a waterborne school in northern Jiangsu in the 1960s and 1970s. Boat people in the area work in shipping, live on boats, and drift around, with their children unable to receive proper education.

The novel examines the development and transformation of the young protagonist, Da Chuan, as he transitions from a state of ignorance to one of enlightenment. It portrays a young teacher, endowed with educational wisdom, who is committed to selflessly dedicating himself to the advancement of his students.

Polar Shuttle is an informative and child-friendly masterpiece. The protagonist Xiu Xiaohu is a fifth-grade student with reading difficulties. His mother, a member of the Arctic scientific expedition team, disappeared from his life four years ago after participating in an international cooperative research project. On his eleventh birthday, the computer gifted by his father allows him to video chat with his mother every week, opening up experiences of "shuttling" between home, school, and the icy polar regions. Through his mother's perspective, Xiu observes Arctic wonders like polar bear cub Oscar and experiences the hardships of scientific research and the resilience of natural life, ultimately overcoming his reading difficulties with the dual support of maternal love and technology.

National Beauty and Heavenly Fragrance is a children's novel about Peking Opera. The young girl Mu Xi becomes intrigued by an exhibition featuring a renowned opera singer, which has been organized by her Peking Opera instructor. Accompanied by a friend, she undertakes a detective mission to uncover the identity of the unnamed girl, seeking to elucidate the truth through the examination of historical documents. The work adopts a structure with three parallel storylines in contemporary Beijing, Beiping in the 1930s, and Shanghai in the 1940s. Through the intertwining of time and space, the three girls connect through learning and performing Peking Opera, showcasing the development and inheritance of this traditional art over a century and illustrating the effect of Peking Opera on children's spiritual growth.
