The copyright of the picture book The Village has Changed published by Phoenix Juvenile and Children's Publishing Ltd has recently been exported to India, Sri Lanka, and Saudi Arabia.
The book's copyright has so far been exported to six countries, with the other three being the United Kingdom, Russia, and Kyrgyzstan.
Written by Sun Yu and illustrated by Yang Bo, the picture book tells of the great changes that have occurred in Yucun village in Zhejiang province's Huzhou from the perspective of a native boy named Xiao Lin.
The village is home to vast stretches of bamboo forests, which serve as Lin's playground in his childhood, a hope for a better life in high school days, a longing for home while working far away, and the light to realize dreams after returning home.
Kaushal Goyal, president of GBD Books in India, said that he was attracted by the book's cover at the South Asia International Book Fair in November 2023 and that he feels honored to purchase the copyright of the Indian version so that he can introduce it to Indian readers.
The head of the book's publisher in Sri Lanka also noted that he is pleased to introduce the picture book, which will help raise children's awareness of the importance of environmental protection.
The book's content is in line with the culture and values of Arab countries and with the entire global community. It will be well received among Arab readers, said Mohamad Elkhatib, president of Digital Future Co.
