José Luis Parra, foreign president of the Confucius Institute of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, led an 11-member delegation from the Confucius Institute of UC Chile on a visit to Phoenix Publishing and Media Group in Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu province, on July 19.

Zhang Chaoyang, chairman of PPMG, welcomed the delegation and said that the Confucius Institute of UC Chile serves as an important bridge for cultural exchanges between China and Chile.

In recent years, the Confucius Institute has made substantial progress with the support of PPMG, UC Chile, and Nanjing University, noted Zhang.

He added that PPMG will arrange more visits between both sides and introduce more outstanding literary works from Chile to Chinese readers via the Confucius Institute. He also expressed hope that the Confucius Institute will promote high-quality works published by PPMG in Chile.

Parra said that with PPMG's support, the Confucius Institute is dedicated to teaching the Chinese language and organizing cultural exchange activities.

The institute's new office building will be completed in December and the Phoenix Bookshelf at the institute will be upgraded into the Phoenix Library, making it easier to read and promote books published by PPMG, according to the foreign president.

The delegation also visited the Book Release Hall, Phoenix Cloud Bookstore, and Phoenix International Book Mall.

Founded in 1888, UC Chile is a comprehensive university with 18 schools and is ranked first among its counterparts in Latin America. After PPMG joined NJU and UC Chile to establish the Confucius Institute in 2015, the Chilean university has highly valued its cooperation with PPMG. Thanks to mutual visits in recent years, strong cooperative relations have been forged between the two parties.
