The book includes 29 volumes of nearly 10 million Chinese characters and introduces the development of new literature in Jiangsu from 1892 to 2019, showcasing the contributions of Jiangsu literature to China's new literature.

The Jiangsu Writers Association and Jiangsu Research Center for Contemporary Writers are responsible for compiling the book, while Phoenix Literature & Art Publishing Ltd, a subsidiary of Phoenix Publishing and Media Group, is in charge of publishing.
