A launch ceremony for the General History of Chinese Philosophy is held in Wuhan, Hubei province, on Sept 17.
The General History of Chinese Philosophy, the most complete and systematic book on the history of Chinese philosophy, was published in Wuhan, Hubei province, on Sept 17.
Over 20 experts on the history of Chinese philosophy from universities, including WHU, Tsinghua University, and Sun Yat-Sen University, took 16 years to compile the book, and Guo Qiyong, professor at the Institute of Philosophy of Wuhan University, served as editor-in-chief.
The General History of Chinese Philosophy includes 10 volumes with more than 6 million Chinese characters.
The book includes 10 volumes with more than 6 million Chinese characters and its content ranges from the pre-Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) to the contemporary age.
Among the 10 volumes, there is also one for the philosophy of science in ancient China and one for the philosophy of ethnic minorities in China.
Zhou Yezhong, vice-principal of WHU, believes that the book serves as an example for exploring the development path and governance of China.
Xu Hai, editor-in-chief of PPMG, said at the launch ceremony that the book demonstrates China's capacity for originality and speaking truthfully and will influence the research and promotion of the history of Chinese philosophy over the next 30 to 50 years.
