A promotional event for China from Outer Space was held on March 31 at the 34th Beijing Book Fair, which lasted from March 31 to April 2.
The book, published by the Xinhua Satellite News Laboratory and Phoenix Science Press Ltd, a subsidiary of Phoenix Publishing and Media Inc (PPM), uses more than 200 maps and satellite images to demonstrate the development of 34 provinces, regions, and cities in China.
She Jiangtao, president of PPM, said that the title not only displays China from outer space, but also showcases the changes and strengths of China from scientific and technological perspectives.
She added that China from Outer Space is a model of Chinese storytelling and expressed hope that it will be effective in sharing Chinese stories.
He Dawei, deputy director of the Xinhua Media Fusion National Key Laboratory, noted that the book shares the same name with Xinhua's serial news reports and it is also the first attempt in the world to use a large amount of satellite resources in a publication.
A launch ceremony for the overseas edition of China from Outer Space was held at the promotional event and the book is expected to be published in Portuguese, Italian, Arabic, and Russian in the near future.
