The Phoenix Publishing and Media Group (PPMG) launched a panel in its headquarters city of Nanjing on May 28, targeting international publishing and translation experts.
PPMG officials, Chinese literary experts, and sinologists from 13 countries co-launched the program.
The publishing giant hopes the experts panel will encourage productive and frequent exchanges between Chinese and foreign literary circles. To achieve this, the company is collaborating with overseas sinologists and translators to enable the translation of several Chinese stories into different languages.
PPMG hopes that the panel will regularly attract international experts, so as many international readers as possible can view the stories.
Meanwhile, PPMG will carry out more publishing and cultural activities overseas, enhancing its capacity for cross-border cooperation and communication, while displaying Chinese culture onto the world stage.
At the launching ceremony, discussions over the proper translation of Chinese books and the efficient ways to promote them overseas provoked wide response amongst the attendants.
World-famous sinologists Dariusz Tomasz Lebioda, a Polish poet, and Priyadarsi Mukherji, an Indian who won the 8th China Book Award in 2014 for making great and long lasting contributions to introducing Chinese books overseas, also shared their insights into the topics.
