Updated: 2017-11-15

Nanjing based Phoenix Publishing and Media Group (PPMG) extended a warm welcome to Thomas Minkus, vice president for emerging media and English-language markets of Frankfurt Book Fair (FBF) on Nov 2.

Minkus is also the managing director of IPR License, a rights and licensing trading platform.

She Jiangtao, editor-in-chief and vice president of PPMG, met with the distinguished guest and briefed him on the development of PPMG, its "going global" strategy and its achievements in traditional publishing and digital publishing sectors.

The vice president stressed that the FBF serves as an important platform for cultural exchanges and one of the most important international platforms for PPMG to promote its corporate culture to the whole world. In the past 10 years, PPMG has sent a delegation to attend the fair annually.

He also expressed his wish to push forward pragmatic projects in cooperation with other exhibitors at the book fair.

Minkus agreed with She Jiangtao on his opinions about publishing and invited him to address the 2018 FBF to share his understandings of China's publishing industry with his peers across the world.

Minkus also gave a detailed introduction of IPR, a platform for publishers and agents to list and license their literary rights, providing access to a global marketplace. The platform can help Chinese publishers to promote their titles on the global market, according to Thomas.

The German delegation led by Minkus also paid a visit to Yilin Press, Phoenix Education Publishing, Phoenix Juvenile and Children's Publishing and Phoenix Literature & Art Publishing, all subsidiaries of PPMG on Nov 2. The German guests and PPMG’s leadership discussed the possibilities of cooperation between the two sides.

On the second day of their stay, Minkus visited the Phoenix cloud computing center. After being briefed on the Phoenix smart education, Minkus said he was impressed by PPMG's efforts in implementing digitalization strategy and expressed his wishes to conduct cooperation with PPMG on related sectors.
