Publishers pairs with NGO to improve west China reading
Yilin Press recently joined hands with the Amity Foundation to promote a campus library program in China's remote western regions. The initiative aims to increase reading opportunities and environments for students and teachers.
This cooperation will focus on providing a carefully chosen range of 2,000 books for selected libraries and equipping these spaces with new shelves, desks, and chairs. The program also provides educational training for librarians. Furthermore, lectures will be given to students by guest writers such as Qi Zhi and Huang Beijia.
The publishing house is a subsidiary of Phoenix Publishing and Media Inc. and the Amity foundation is an independent organization created in 1985 to focus on a range of critical social issues. The NGO has so far built libraries in 40 schools across Guizhou, Qinghai, Sichuan, and Gansu.
