Phoenix Media VP calls for Confucius Institute and enterprises co-op
Liu Feng, vice-president of Phoenix Publishing and Media Inc (PPM), gave a keynote speech titled "achieving win-win results between academic and business circles". The speech took place at the principal forum of the 11th Confucius Institute Conference held in Kunming, Southwest China's Yunnan province, from Dec 10 to 11.
China has so far set up more than 500 Confucius Institutes and 1,000 Confucius Classrooms in 140 countries across the world. They have become an important platform enhancing cultural exchange and cooperation between China and foreign countries.
Liu said the cooperation between the Confucius Institute and the wealth of institutions involved can reach even greater heights. He stated that in the globalized era of development the value of internationalism for Chinese companies will only increase in the 21st century.
He noted the Confucius Institute potential to help enterprises seeking internationalization and serve as local think tanks, overseas R&D bases, and a talent training pools for Chinese companies committed to going global. He believes this creates a win-win situation in which both sides benefit from the pursuit of their separate goals.
The 11th Confucius Institute Conference, organized by the Hanban (the Confucius Institute Headquarters), invited more than 2,200 participants from 140 countries and regions. Guests included university presidents, Confucius Institutes officials, foreign diplomats in China and individuals involved in business.
