Phoenix Media takes part in Romanian book fair

Chinese publishing company Phoenix Media took part in the 23rd Gaudeamus International Book and Education Fair in Bucharest, Romania from Nov 16 to 20.

The Jiangsu-based publisher joined the Chinese delegation and showcased more than 200 books at the biggest book fair in Romania. The books covering a variety of China-related topics, including China's economy, the "Chinese dream", the Belt and Road Initiative, traditional Chinese culture and modern and contemporary Chinese literature, were highly commended by local publishers and readers.

The 23rd Gaudeamus International Book and Education Fair takes place in Bucharest, Romania from Nov 16 to 20, with China as its Guest of Honor. 

Symbols of China, a book introducing the icons thought to represent the very essence of China, Jackie Chan: Growing Old before Growing Up, a biography of the famous film star, and other perfectly designed and bound books were some of the star attractions at the fair.

Cao Wenxuan, the winner of the 2016 Hans Christian Andersen Award, also appeared at Phoenix Media's booth with his latest work Glass Eye Beads, which was published by Phoenix Juvenile and Children's Publishing.

During the fair, the publisher held two promotion events, one for its Chinese learning app "Phoenix Chinese" and another for its documentary series Great Wall: Story of China.

Phoenix Media also held talks and reached cooperation intentions in copyright trading with the Romanian Cultural Institute, Romanian National History Museum and several publishing houses.

Gaudeamus International Book and Education Fair, initiated in 1994, has become the largest book fair in Romania and an influential event in Central and Eastern Europe. This year's fair attracted more than 300 publishers and 125,000 visitors.
