Phoenix Vocational Education Books Ltd, a publisher under the Phoenix Publishing and Media Inc, held a launch ceremony for its latest book at the 68th Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany on Oct 19.

Mind the Gap: Theory and Practice of British Vocational Education, which Phoenix will publish in both English and Chinese, examines the current problems in vocational education in China, and attempts to provide solutions to these problems using theory and practices from the United Kingdom.

The book's title was inspired by signs in the London Underground that warn passengers about the gap between the train and platform.The writer uses this phrase to imply that there is a similar mismatch between vocational education curricula and the actual needs of employers and employees in China.

The editor-in-chief for the book's English version, Paul Terence Beashel, traveled from the United Kingdom to take part in the launch. He shared his writing intentions with the audience.

The launch ceremony was one of the events organized by the Chinese delegation during the Frankfurt Book Fair, one of the world's largest trade fairs for the publishing industry. This year's fair was held from Oct 19 to 23.

The vocational education book publisher will continue to publish more translated works, including Modern Apprenticeship and New Breakthroughs of Vocational Education in Singapore.
