Phoenix Media donates books to Xinjiang
Phoenix Vocational Education Books Ltd., a publisher under Phoenix Publishing and Media Inc (PPM), was invited to a workshop for moral education exchange between eastern and western China in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from Sept 22 to 25.
During the visit in the Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture, the company donated a total of 2,500 children's books on moral education and codes of conduct, worth some 40,000 yuan ($6,000), to local educational authority.
Ma Wanquan, deputy education chief of Ili, said the prefecture has always paid attention to moral education so that children are able to learn about healthy values and norms of behaviors through reading.
So far, about 91 percent of primary and secondary school students from multiple ethnic groups receive bilingual education. The books are able to not only foster good manners but also contribute to better Chinese language proficiency for students.
