Huang Beijia's latest novel and studio unveiled in Nanjing
An inauguration ceremony for the writer Huang Beijia's new book, Children's Eyes, and her personal studio took place at the Buzhi Bookstore in Nanjing on July 24.
Hang Beijia, born in Jiangsu in 1955, graduated from Peking University in 1982 and started her writing career in 1970s. Specializing in children’s literature, her works have won several national book awards.
Children's Eyes, published by Phoenix Juvenile and Children’s Publishing Ltd, is Huang’s latest full-length novel telling the story of a group of children growing up in a small Jiangsu town in the 1970s.
The book looks back on childhood using a child's perspective, unveiling the secret inner worlds of children, according She Jiangtao, vice-president of Phoenix Publishing and Media Inc at the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Huang shared her experience of writing her latest novel, saying that the book is a complete reflection of her childhood and the way she used to experience the world. She said the book is not just for children, but for adults too.
Also in attendance were literature and publishing experts who all spoke highly of Huang's latest work.
Phoenix Publishing also announced the establishment of the Huang Beijia Studio which will be the first writer’s studio set up by the publishing house.
It said the studio will join hands with bookstores to hold reading and book recommendation events as well as academic seminars, aimed at creating a better reading environment for the public.
