Phoenix launches English website

Phoenix Publishing & Media, Inc. (PPM), headquartered in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, formally launched its English-language website on August 26, with backing from chinadaily.com.cn.

The English-language website aims to meet the requirements of international users, and features seven sections. The “About us” section focuses on the company's general strategy, initiatives, global operation and organization. The “News” section features the latest on the company's overseas expansion and international cooperation, and the “Books” section focuses on new releases and bestsellers, as well as Rights, Laws and Videos. These bring a global perspective that shows great resources and interesting culture of PPM.

Taking part in the launch ceremony of the PPM English portal are Yan Xiaohong, the vice minister of State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, Chen Haiyan, chairman of the Board of Phoenix Publishing & Media Group (PPMG), and Qu Yingpu, deputy editor-in-chief of China Daily.

In addressing the launch ceremony, Yan said “the PPM should make the best of the modern digital media platform and make the platform a new force to expand the global reach of Chinese culture.”

PPM is a listed arm of PPMG, which is one of the largest and most influential organizations of its kind in China and has ranked first in scale and overall strength in the domestic industry for years. By moving its industrial operations overseas, PPMG is becoming a major multinational in the publishing industry and has joined the Top 10 list of the Top 50 Publishing Enterprises for 2015, which came out on June 26.

Chen Haiyan, PPMG chairman of the board, hopes the English-language website “can lend a hand to PPM’s global ‘going-out’ strategy, make the company a creative benchmark in the publishing industry, and help to offer better service for Sino-Foreign cultural exchanges and trade.”

China Daily, which is the country’s leading English-language news organization with growing popularity abroad, has become the first choice for people who are interested in China through English language media. And its website, chinadaily.com.cn, has become a comprehensive multimedia outlet and China’s most influential English-language web portal.
