Phoenix’s books successful in North America
Chicago-based Phoenix International Publishings,Inc (PIP) has had sales revenue of $60 million since July 16. In 2015, PIP will roll out audio books Big Hero Six and Star Wars, authorized by Disney.
From July 16 to Dec 31, each of its 20 books sold over 100,000 copies. Frozen, as a series, sold 2 million copies.
PIP books with classic cartoon characters, like Mickey Mouse, Elmo, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, each sold over 100,000 copies as well.
Chinese publisher Phoenix Publishing and Media (PPM) and US publisher Publications International, Ltd. (PIL) held a delivery ceremony in Chicago on July 15, 2014. PPM confirmed the 80-million-US-dollar acquisition of PIL’s children's book business. It is the largest transnational merger by a Chinese publishing house.
The acquisition covers all the children’s book business assets owned by Illinois-based PIL, including its overseas subsidiaries in Germany, France and Mexico.
